Orchard Nurseries is a family-run business based in York. Since 1992, it has been owned by the Small family, providing plants and advice to customers near and far. Our aim is not just to be a place to buy plants, but to use our knowledge and expertise to bring your ideas to life, while tackling any garden challenges you may be facing.

Attentive To Your Needs
Whilst quality plants are a given, what makes us different is the very personal attention we aim to provide. Boasting a keen interest in plants, formal qualifications in both Horticulture and Garden Design, with over 30 years’ experience, Chris is the heart of the garden centre.
Whatever your level of knowledge or expertise, he is always keen to talk to you, and enjoys taking the time to understand what you need, and help you decide on the best solution or plant for you.
A Small Team With Big Ideas
Whilst we are relatively small in size, new customers are often surprised at the extent of plant stock we have available, some of which are more unusual species or varieties.
We can also fill baskets or containers to your specification, and this is where Chris’s plant knowledge combined with his artistic eye produces stunning and individual results. This expertise also means we can offer qualified and practical consultations about your garden – either by visit or remotely.
Seasonal & Christmas Décor
In addition to being a plant nursery, we apply the same ethos to seasonal and christmas décor - Chris’s artistic talent is used here to produce high quality and unique fresh wreaths, table decorations and a range of personally-selected fresh Christmas trees.
